A CARDIAC CATHETERISATION LABORATORY.
Funds Raised To Date:Cath-Lab
The Friends have already raised over €750,000 to purchase the Cath Lab.
Next Phase:
The second phase of this project is to raise funds to house the Cath Lab. This lab will be used by the Consultant Cardiologist to diagnose and treat patients with organic heart disease.
What does it facilitate?
Patients with symptomatic heart disease often require an angiogram to assess the level of disease. This involves the insertion of an opaque dye into the coronary arteries to assess the level of function.
Patients with significant blockage of their coronary arteries will require “clot-busting” medicine and/or and angioplasty, which involves cleaning the plaque out of the arteries.
